This 1993 one of comedy was a pilot for a proposed sitcom starring Joan as a Hollywood tv star whose tantrums on set are just as legendary as she and after she made one demand too many is dropped by the network.. Finding herself out of a job she returns to London with her assistant and hairdresser in tow. With a bitter ex husband, a son she hasn't seen in years and a multitude of adopted children, life certainly is going to change for her..

'Mama's Back' originally was titles 'Next' , but when it went to air it was changed, probably due to the fact it was not commisioned as a series. It was envisaged that each episode would see Joan trying to find a job to support her lot, but failing at each job with comical results.

With a wonderful cast and a fun premise, it would have been fun to see Joan in a variety of guises and it could have been a cult favourite. However the powers that be at that time missed a wonderful opportunity to gather together a unique cast...
