Joan with the cast of Egoli..

Egoli Place Of Gold was one of South Africa's longest running drama, running for eighteen years and producing over 4,500 episodes. The series was created by Franz Marx for South Africa's independent M-Net channel to reflect the new attitude in the country at that time and featured a number of families based around a automobile manufacturer called Walco.

Joan on set
Every now and then Joan is asked to make an appearance somewhere in the world and after she appeared at the Miss World Contest in Sun City in 1992, she was asked back to South Africa to guest star in the countries top rated drama at that time. Joan's family is traced back to the country as her father Joe was born there and her aunts toured the country with an act called The Three Cape Girls. Joan made a fleeting appearance on 'Egoli' as business woman Catherine Sinclair . who returns to Johannesberg to tie up the loose ends of her late brothers estate. She also wanted to claim back jewellry belonging to her mother that her late brothers gold digging wife Cecile had taken for herself. She also found out that the company Walco in which she was a shareholder and board member no longer wanted her. Joan's character after her fleeting visit left with the door open for her return. However she never appeared again in the series.

As the series had so many episodes, there has only been a selection released on DVD, I am not sure that Joan's episodes were released on disc, but you can view some highlights above..
