Fashion is ephemeral, art is eternal. —Oscar Wilde
Why do some fashion photographs transcend their commercial character to function as works of art, while others do not? In part, the answer lies in the ability of a fashion photograph to reflect two or more worlds: the perfect world inside the frame—where youth, beauty, and luxury reign supreme—and the harsh realities of the world outside it. The best fashion photographs remind us of other works of art or expand the boundaries of the genre, redefining what a fashion photograph is supposed to do, or be.
Joan & Percy with John Stuzinski & Wendy Stark Morrissey
Beginning with 1911—the year Edward Steichen created the first “artistic” fashion photographs—and ending with 2011 with digital technology as a dominant paradigm, this exhibition surveys the rich and varied history of modern fashion photography. The show traces its trajectory from niche industry to powerful cultural force, and its gradual embrace as an art form.

Joan arrives back in LA from London to start shooting American Horror Story Season 8
Murphy originally broke the news of this crossover exclusively with EW two years ago. “There will be characters from Murder House and characters from Coven together,” he told the audience at EW’s PopFest.
It’s still unclear how this will play out in the series, but Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who both appeared in Murder House and Coven, will be back.
Murder House was the initial season of AHS and followed a family in a haunted house, while season 3’s Coven was about a New Orleans school for witches.
Murphy did tell EW a few weeks ago that this season would have a lot of returning fan favorites, and now we know why. “You will see so many fan favorites return that you’ll feel like it’s The Love Boat,” Murphy teased. “It’s a very high concept. It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode 5.”
Ryan Murphy says American Horror Story season 8 is 'unlike anything we've done'
Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are currently launching their latest FX series, Pose, but the pair are about to begin production on the eighth season of American Horror Story. The latest edition of the anthology series begins shooting this month and, as usual, details are scarce.
Murphy previously announced that the new installment will be set 18 months from now and much of the cast will be full of AHS alums including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, and Billie Lourd as well as newcomers like Joan Collins, who will apparently be playing Peters’ grandmother. The previous edition of AHSwas the very timely Cult, which featured Peters playing various cult leaders in history.
But there’s apparently going to be even more stars than before. “You will see so many fan favorites return that you’ll feel like it’s The Love Boat,” teases Murphy. “It’s a very high concept.”
While rumors have swirled that this season is called AHS: Radioactive, Murphy would only admit this one has a massive twist. Says Murphy, who co-created AHSwith Brad Falchuk, “It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode five.”

Whilst in Hollywood last month I was delighted to meet up with the fabulous Angie Dickinson, which reminded me of this great shot of Joan when she guested on Angie's classic hit show 'Police Woman'. Joan appeared in two episodes of the series, this shot was taken from the two parter 'The Trick Book' where Joan played a dangerous, scheming, lush hooker Lorelei Frank.. This episode is available on the season 3 dvd release which is available now.. POLICE WOMAN SEASON 3 - ORDER HERE!
