TV FLASHBACK : PERSON TO PERSON ... 1961..

JOAN before the cameras....
EDWARD R MORROW & CHARLES COLLINGWOOD

JOHNNY MERCER & HENRY MANCINI with Presenter DEBBIE REYNOLDS holding their OSCARS for "Moon River"
I almost overlooked this appearance as I have been going by the IMDB list and this appearance is omitted for some reason along with some others, which will include in due course! This innovative series first aired on CBS in 1953 and was hosted by respected CBS anchor Edward R Morrow.. The uniqueness of this chat based series, was the fact that instead of guests sitting in a TV studio to be interviewed, the cameras and crew came to the guests! A multitude of Hollywood stars and political and prominent faces appeared on the show. Morrow hosted the show until 1959 and then CBS chief correspondent Charles Collingwood took over the mantle until the series finished in 1961...Joan appeared on the series in July of 1961 from her Hollywood apartment and she discussed her jet setting career, in flying over and back from Hollywood to London and the many locations she had traveled to as part of her film career.. She also talked about the difference between English, American and Russian men and how she deplored women who competed with their men!  Also in this edition was legendary songwriter Johnny Mercer with his wife and two children, who spoke from their Newport Beach Home.. Johnny discussed his body of work and his Oscars..where he had won an Oscar that year for the now classic "Moon River".. A DVD of early episodes is available.. A trailblazing show that is worth seeking out!
