One of my favourite of Joan's early films is 'Turn The Key Softly', from 1953 in which Joan plays a West End lady of the night, Stella Jarvis, who along with two other women are released from prison on the same day. The film follows the women as they leave the confines of the prison to face life on the outside. With a wonderful cast of characters including elegant Yvonne Mitchell as Monica who was in prison as a result of her criminal boyfriend, who left her with the blame for a robbery he committed.. Kathleen Harrison plays a dotty shoplifter Mrs Quillam whose only real friend is her little dog Johnny. Here are a wonderful Mexican lobby card, an italian lobby and a rare shot of Joan off set.
