Dame Joan Collins took children with life-limiting conditions for afternoon tea
at The Dorchester hotel as part of a Christmas treat.
The actress, who is patron of Shooting Star Chase, invited families who are supported by the children’s hospice to join her at the Park Lane hotel on Friday.
Dame Joan spent time with children and their parents and handed out Christmas presents while in the hotel’s Gold Room.
She said: “Christmas is a magical time, and a time for family unity so I thought it would be wonderful to put on something for children and their families to enjoy and remember. It's become a bit of a tradition.
“Some children I've seen since they were born practically. I think it brings a little bit of Christmas cheer into their lives.”
The afternoon tea was the latest in a series of events Dame Joan has put on in aid of Shooting Star Chase.
The hospice, which has sites in Hampton in south London and Guildford in Surrey, supports babies, children and young people up to the age of 21 with life-limiting conditions and is one of the beneficiaries of this year’s X Factor winner’s single.
