The story so far...
Krystle continues to receive strange phone calls..Alexis tells her the truth about Amanda..With Connie missing, Max is still at large...
Fallon Colby decided to do some early morning shopping, she needed to get out in the fresh air, a drive always gave her time to think. She had texted her mother to wish her good luck for the day, Fallon could not face a court hearing, she ceratinly sat though enough over the years. She turned on the radio, to listen to a few sounds, she noticed a lone figure at the side of the road, standing next to a motorbike. As she drove nearer to him, she recognised the face as that of the man she had seen Krystle having coffee with at the diner. Fallon usually did not stop for wayside strangers, but this guy was different, she was curious to talk with Krystle's admirer.
"Are you stranded? Need help with anything?"
Fallon had pulled in from the road and popped her head out the window, the cool air felt good against her face.
" Good morning mam! The winter air always plays havoc with Jinny! Just catching my breath..Letting the old girl rest!"
Fallon laughed at the way he described his bike, she could see how attractive he was, she could practically excuse Krystle for falling for him!
"I thought your bike may have broken down.. or you maybe run out of gas! I am Fallon Colby.. Do you live around here?"
Fallon turned off the ignition, she then got out of the car to stretch her legs.
"Nice of you to stop Mrs Colby. Dylan Barrows is my name.. Just visiting Denver.. Maybe find a job for a few months. I used to have a sister living in these parts.. She is dead now!"
Dylan took his gloves off, running his hands through his dark curly hair..
"I have seen you before. You seem to know my step-mother.. Krystle Carrington?"
Fallon wondered what his reaction would be to the revelation that she knew about his rendezvous with Krystle.
"Krystle! She is your step-mother? You must be Blake Carrington's daughter? Sure..I met Krystle, the same way as I have just met you. She is a real lady.."
Dylan stood facing her, he found her to be most attractive.
"I have to admit it did make me wonder why you were both at the diner."
Fallon stood with her hands on her hips.
"She gave me a ride to the gas station.. Old Jinny was giving me trouble that day. We had a coffee while the repair shop tended to her..the bike that is!"
Fallon had to admit, he sure had intense dark eyes..
"You mentioned you might be looking for work? My mother has a hotel which she has just finished having revovated. It is reopening tomorrow night with a gala event. She mentioned they still needed staff..I can make a call if you are interested? "
Dylan smiled at her, he was willing to turn his hand to anything, this road was certainly a lucky one for him.
"Gee Mrs Colby that is real good of you. I am not afraid of a little hard work"
Fallon wrote down the address of 'The Morell Plaza' for him, she only hoped she was doing the correct thing..Call it her good deed for the day!
"You drop by and say I sent you. Shall I tell Krystle you were asking for her?"
Dylan looked at her, not sure what to say...
"Maybe it is best you don't mention me.. We came to an agreement we would not meet again..She told me she was married and she didn't feel right meeting me.."
Fallon agreed not to tell Krystle.. She did however feel he still held a torch for her.. Probably why Krystle did not want to see him again.
"If you are sure I can't do anymore for you, I will be on my way.. I plan a spot of retail therapy to give me a lift!"
They both shook hands, then she was back in the car and she gone. Dylan watched the car speed off into the distance. He smiled to himself, thinking how lucky this highway had been for him.. Firstly meeting the lovely Krystle and now Blake Carrington's daughter. He had heard many stories about the mighty Blake Carrington and his infamous family, not all of it favourable. Now he may have another opportunity, to work for the powerful Alexis Colby. Dylan put his helmet on, then his gloves, he started up the bike, pausing for a moment.. His plan was well in gear, he thought of his sister as he sped off into the landscape, leaving a trail of dust in his wake!
Monica Colby sat in the lounge of The Ritz Carlton, she had arranged to meet Dominique Devereaux who was due in Denver to see Blake. She also was informed of Alexis's gala event and decided it might be worth attending! Even though she had not been invited, Dominique did have many influential friends in Denver, one of whom had been invited and needed a date! Jonathan De Wolffe was a big player in event management and one of the countries top concert promoters.. She always enjoyed been in his company, even if he was thoroughly gay with a penchant for glamorous women to accompany him to society events..
Monica decided to have a skinny latte while she waited, from experience, Dominique was never on time for any appointment! After all she did work for her, for many years, she knew her routine better than she did! Monica scanned the room to see if she knew anyone, although this time of the morning the lounge was very quiet. As she sipped her coffee, she peered over the rim of her cup, she noticed a familar face on the other side of the room. She tried to remember where she had seen him before.. It was not from Denver, it had to be in California, he did have a deep tan..Monica never forgot a face, it was just as she got older, it took longer to attach names to them. Monica finished off her coffee, lost in thought, disturbed by an incoming text on her mobile phone. She quickly read the text, dismayed to discover that Dominque was delayed in New York and would not get to Denver till later in the day, she would have to cancel their appointment. Monica sent her a text back to say she would meet up at 'The Morell Plaza' opening. She had no sooner finished sending the text, when she was surprised to find her mystery man standing over her..
"Miss Colby! So nice to see you again.. It has been a while! How is the music business?"
Monica was caught off guard, but she began to realise who he was..
"I have given up the music business.. Too much manufactured crap. No originality!"
Monica shook his outstretched hand.
"That is true. Maxwell La Ducci. Film producer.. Hospitality co-ordinator!"
Monica remembered him now as the man Connie Rich worked for. He used to supply the entertainment for the aftershow parties in the form of his so called actresses. Monica never did trust him, she found him attractive, she hated his attitude. He looked a little different than before, not as confident, his hands seemed unsteady, he was not as groomed as she had remembered.
"What brings you to Denver? I saw a friend of yours recently..Connie Rich?"
She sensed an unease in him when she mentioned Connie.. Maybe they had a falling out?..
"Connie Rich! Where did you see her? "
Maxwell ran his fingers through his dark hair.
"I saw her at a dinner party. She was with a girl I know. If I see her again I will tell her you were asking for her. I might see her tomorrow evening at an event at 'The Morell Plaza'.. Will let her know."
Monica put her phone back in her purse and got up to leave.
"Was the girl she was with..Amanda Carrington? I would really love to catch up with her!"
Monica looked at him, he seemed desperate for want of a better word.. She began to realise, that maybe Maxwell La Ducci was the reason Amanda and Connie were friends! Monica turned to retrieve her jacket from the seat beside her, when she turned back to say goodbye to him, he was gone. She looked around, he had left the lounge.. What on earth was Maxwell La Ducci up to?
The day began with s chill in the air, grey skies, frost on the ground. Alexis had not slept too well, so many thoughts invading the midnight hours. She dreaded having to see Jeremy Van Dorn's face again, at least she had her gala event to look forward to the following evening. She studied her face in the mirror, not bad for an old broad, although she did not feel any older, a little tired, but what busy woman of today wasn't? Alexis fixed the collar of her Black Thierry Mugler suit, she stroked the fur cuffs, she then attached her sable stole.. Apart from the chilly weather, she decided a touch of glamour was needed to enhance the proceedings. Alexis was delighted that Victor Bonaducci had decided to stay in Denver till the end of the week.. He would accompany her to her gala event and he would try his best to sort out his prodigal son.. Alexis finished her preparations and went downstairs to find Amanda and Frank Mulligan waiting for her, it was almost time to leave for the courthouse.
" I suppose we are as ready as we ever shall be! Amanda darling! How are you feeling today? Victor is doing everything he can to find that monsterous son of his."
Alexis gave Amanda a reassuring hug..
"I am fine mummy.. Knowing I have so much support, means alot to me.."
Alexis gave her daughter a kiss on the cheek.
"Alexis! Victor is downstairs.. He will follow us in his car."
Alexis grabbed her purse, took Amanda's arm as they made their way to the elevator. Ten minutes later they were on their way.
The black Mercedes glided through the streets of Denver, on it's way downtown. Alexis took a sip of chilled sparkling mineral water while Amanda sat next to her mother, checking her lipline looking into her Cartier compact mirror. Frank sat in the drivers seat, guiding them to their destination. Alexis checked her mobile phone, she noticed the car had come to a virtual crawl.
"Alexis! There seems to be some sort of accident up ahead. You both wait here while I go and check."
Frank got out of the car, to investigate the melee..the ladies sat waiting for news, their curiosity heightened.
"Must have been a car crash. Why are people so careless these days?"
Alexis put her phone back in her purse, applied another coat of lip gloss, and fixed her fringe. Minutes later Frank returned to the car, bearing extraordinary news.
"Alexis! There has been a major accident. You will never believe this but the transport vehicle bringing Van Dorn to the courthouse, just collided with an oil tanker! Both the driver and Van Dorn are dead, the accompanying officer managed to jump free from the vehicle, before it exploded."
Alexis was shocked, she would hardly shed a tear for Jeremy, but she did not expect it to end like this.
"My god! So Jeremy Van Dorn has started his afterlife in hell, on this highway.. Are they sure it was him?"
Frank could not answer that question, Alexis looked at Amanda, could it really be all over?
