JOAN Performs With ANGELA LANSBURY & DANA WYNTER At The 31ST OSCARS! |
Joan has been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences since she was signed by Fox in the 1950's and had attended many of their events over the years. She first attended the Academy Awards ceremony in 1958, where she presented the Cinematography Award to Jack Hildyard for his work on "The Bridge On The River Kwai"... Joan attended the ceremony with her good friends Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. Joanne won her Oscar that year for her performance as Eve White / Black & Jane, in "The Three Faces of Eve". Joanne wore a gown to the show that she made herself, the next day apparently, Joan Crawford complained that it was terrible for Joanne to make her own clothes as it put the woman's cause back many years! ... Joan appeared the next year at the Academy Awards where she performed a number called "It's Bully Not To Be Nominated" along with Angela Lansbury and Dana Wynter... Will feature Joan's 1983 appearance in a later post...
