In 1993 Joan was the guest of honor at one of Austria's social event of the season, The Wiener Staatsoper Opernball in association with Casinos Austria. Also known as The Vienna Opera Ball, it is held at the Vienna State Opera House, when the music venue is turned into a giant ballroom. All guests must wear black tie and ball gowns. Joan wore a fabulous Bob Mackie gown that she also wore to present the 1989 Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton. Austrian business magnate Richard Lugner invited Joan as his guest, he traditionally invites international stars, former guests have included Sophia Loren. Included here is a ticket to the event and a photo of Joan at her table, looking at a copy of Casino magazine with her on the cover!
