New series of Benidorm: Why Joan Collins got upset being nasty to Sherrie Hewson?

Joan onset with Sherrie

Forget those winter blues and prepare for some fun in the sun as Benidorm returns for a new sun-kissed series
As the rain beats against the window and the forecasters threaten debilitating snow once again, that annual trip to the sun seems a long, long away off.
So it's great that we can always rely on this laugh-filled series to turn up in the schedules at just the right time with plenty of sun, sea and sangria to boot.
But with the launch of this seventh - yes, seventh - series, long-term fans should prepare themselves to say a fond farewell to the Garvey family, although it's not all bad news, as there's a great line-up of guest stars to keep an eye out for, including Denise Black, John Challis and Phillip Olivier.

Sherrie Hewson, who plays Joyce Temple Savage, manager of the Solano resort, must be one of the busiest women on the box, as she reprises her role, and has continued her regular appearances on Loose Women. But there is plenty lined up for her character in this new series.
Sherrie explains: "She has a massive run-in with Joan Collins' character, Crystal. I can't tell you what Crystal does, but she's terrible to Joyce, and they clash dramatically.

"Crystal had to return to Benidorm because she is the CEO of the company, and things are always going wrong at the Solana. She likes having a dig at Joyce and putting her down. Usually Joyce doesn't fight back, and Crystal likes that. But this time Joyce stands her ground."
But however hairy things get on-screen for the two women, Sherrie insists Joan Collins is very different in real life, explaining: "Crystal is an out-and-out b****, and Joan is the best actress in the world at playing that type of character. But she is absolutely lovely in person. We get on really well. In one scene, Joan had to be particularly nasty to me. She turned to the director and said, "I can't say this to Sherrie. I don't like being nasty to her. Look how upset she looks!" I adore her!"
Derren Litten's Benidorm has been turning over the laughs for seven years now, and while Sherrie only joined the cast in 2012, she's certain she knows why the show is still so popular with viewers.
"It's got such diverse characters," she explains. "Every kind of character you could possibly wish for is in there, from Joyce to Kenneth and Liam. Everybody can relate to one of the characters."
In the first episode of the new run, the Garveys meet Buck A Roo, who reveals that a multimillion-pound inheritance is Madge's for the taking, but the clan aren't convinced.
Kenneth asks Psychic Sue, a customer at the hotel, to hold a seance so he can try to make contact with his mother. But there are crossed wires when the message he receives appears to be from someone else.
And Clive vows to make the most of single life (and goodness only knows what that means).
Fans of Coronation Street should keep their eyes peeled for a guest appearance from Amanda Barrie.
