Tuesday 26 April marked Wellbeing of Women’s first Literary Lunch of 2016. 170 guests gathered at Fortnum & Mason to hear from the iconic Hollywood legend, Dame Joan Collins DBE. Guests were greeted by the welcoming notes of the grand piano as they enjoyed a glass of Champagne before sitting down to a sumptuous lunch.
Dame Joan was on fabulous form. Guests were able to share a very special moment as they listened to Wellbeing of Women’s Vice Chair, Eve Pollard OBE, and Dame Joan’s lively exchange about her latest novel, The St Tropez Lonely Hearts Club. Guests also heard more about her gorgeous own brand make-up, which is soon to be available in Marks & Spencer; the glitz, glamour and debauchery of St Tropez; the need for parity of pay between men and women; as well as her opinion on Brexit.
The lunch was sponsored by Osbornes Solicitors LLP, Nadine Rogers of St James’s Place Wealth Management and Dr Bindunie Sirimanne and raised over £33,000 – making it the most successful literary lunch that the charity has ever hosted.
Thank you to all those who came to enjoy this highly entertaining afternoon in the company of Dame Joan Collins DBE and Eve Pollard OBE. A fantastic amount was raised, which will be invested in pioneering medical research to deepen our understanding of the causes behind women’s reproductive health issues and ultimately enable us to develop better treatment and impact the care women receive.
