CANDID JOAN! JOAN & PERCY LEAVE THE LOOSE WOMEN STUDIO MONDAY 19TH APRIL

Here is a couple of shots of Joan & Percy leaving the Loose Women studios yesterday after her appearance on the show. Joan was called at the last minute to guest and as she was stranded herself, not been able to fly to the South of France!

This promo ad for the USA show Good Morning America features the stars of "Dynasty" and "The Colbys". Pictured are Linda Evans , John Forsythe , Joan , Emma Samms , Charlton Heston and Barbara Stanwyck. The programme was featuring behind the scenes reports to promote the two shows.

Here is the cover from a newsletter issued by Joan's 90's fan club, for which I used to write articles including a continuing "Dynasty" serial, regular film review and here I had written a short story based on Joan's visit to Dublin to do a signing for her first novel "Prime Time". Joan signed this cover after she read the story!

EVENT FLASHBACK! OVER THE MOON SUPPER .. 2001

This invitation was for a performance of the play "Over The Moon" that Joan starred in in 2001 at The Old Vic. The play also starred Frank Langella and Moira Lister, it only lasted a few months due to the fallout from 9/11 and the lack of visitors to London. This invite included the performance and an after supper with Joan in attendance in the Grand Tier Bar at The Old Vic. Will feature more on this production in a future post.

ON THE COVER : YOU MAGAZINE .. SEPTEMBER 1987

This unusual cover has Joan don leathers and chains for a photo shoot, which later she mentioned she was not keen on doing! You magazine is the Mail on Sunday's supplement magazine and has been since the papers launch in 1982, albeit with different looks over the years. Joan has appeared many times on it's cover and I will featuring some them in future posts!

CHAT SHOW JOAN : LOOSE WOMEN APRIL 19TH 2010

Joan appeared on ITV'S popular daytime chatshow Loose Women today, where she discussed her recent article on how standards have dropped, since The Ritz have now allowed designer jeans. She also mentioned she had been due to fly to the South Of France but was grounded. I know the feeling Joanie! Here is a photo of Joan with the girls a few hours ago!

PROMO FLASHBACK : MY FRIENDS SECRETS 1999

This print ad was used to advertise Joan's best selling "My Friends Secrets" in the newspapers. The book also featured other equally fabulous ladies including Stefanie Powers, Angie Dickinson, Joan Rivers, Ivana Trump, Shirley Bassey, Morgan Fairchild and many others. Will feature this book in a future post.

BETWEEN THE COVERS : THE BIOGRAPHY OF AN ICON!

This promo cover is for the 2008 paperback release of the 2007 Biography of Joan by Graham Lord.  The book which was described as "Scandalous" by Private Eye and " Has lashings of Hollywood Gossip" by Financial Times. However it was described by Joan as "Pure Trash" and I was there! I do admit to having the hardback edition as I was curious to read it. Will post that cover in a future post.

This signed photo is from the 50's, although not signed at that time, but much later. It shows Joan in her Fox period and as always she looks stunning. This photo is part of a thread of Signed Fan Photos that I will be posting a regular intervals!

PROMO FLASHBACK : PLAYBOY VIDEO MAGAZINE 1985

This promo ad features the best selling 1985 video "Playboy Video Magazine" which featured an interview with Joan in it, clothed I might add! The cover uses a photo from her very popular "Playboy" spread.  The ad for this proclaimed....

" You loved her Playboy pictorial and interview. Now.. meet Dynasty superstar Joan Collins live - in her most candid and provocative profile ever! "

The video also featured Playmate of the year - Karen Valez .. Playboy's European singing Playmates and a behind the scenes look at a playmate photo shooting..

This video sold at that time for the exorbitant price of $59.95!

ON THE COVER : THE SUNDAY POST MAGAZINE .. JANUARY 1994

This Sunday Post cover from 1994 features Joan looking very floral in her Beverly Hills home as the by-line proclaimed "Joan Collins Looking good at 60". No doubt if she appeared on the latest issue, it would say something similar!. The Sunday Post is a newspaper published in Dundee Scotland, it first hit newsstands in 1914 and was one of the biggest selling papers in Scotland for many years.  Like most Sunday papers it published it's own Sunday supplement magazine in later years. The paper still publishes but the magazine is now called "Post Plus" and only appears on the first Sunday of each month.

CHATTY JOAN : ANGELA & FRIENDS APRIL 2010 SKY 1

Here is a photo of Joan and Angela Griffin on the sofa of the SKY 1 afternoon chat show "Angela & Friends". Joan appeared as guest last Friday 16th, where she discussed her BFI appearance and Dynasty among other things. Joan's daughter Tara is a regular panelist on the show, while Angela is a former "Coronation Street" star.

OFF SET : THE HUMAN JUNGLE BBC 1964

This rare photo, show Joan backstage at the BBC in 1964, relaxing and catching up with her script for her guest role on the popular drama series "The Human Jungle". The series starred Herbert Lom and will feature Joan's episode "Struggle For A Mind" in a future post.

ON THE COVER FLASHBACK : TITBITS FEBRUARY 1982

This cover features Joan in a typical Nolan Miler gown, in the early days of "Dynasty". Inside was a 2 page feature on how she was finding it hard coping with the attention she was getting with her success as Alexis. This UK magazine now out of print, first appeared in 1881 and ceased publication in 1984. Joan has appeared many times from the 50's up to the 80s. Will feature more of it's covers in future posts.

SIGNED BY: DECADENCE 1994

This signed still is from the 1994 film "Decadence" starring Joan and Steven Berkoff. Practically a two hander with Joan and Steven playing two roles. Here Joan is seen as Helen, an upper class snob. Joan also plays Sybil, a working class ragamuffin. A very unusual film, see my link in a previous post, to order the new DVD!

AD JOAN!! CUERVO GOLD 1986

This 1986 print ad sees Joan play up to her Alexis image in a gold lame outfit, probably by Nolan Miller.  Joan is endorsing Cuervo Gold premium Tequila. The ads proclaimed...
" A casual evening with Joan Collins means bringing out the caviar and Cuervo, clearly a Collins Collins, must be made with nothing less than Cuervo Gold!" This is a real 80's ad!
