What are you like first thing?
A cup of coffee gets me going. I wake up somewhere between 7am and 8am, and it’s a very leisurely start, but I do try to exercise three times a week, either with a trainer or by myself.
What’s your worst habit? Impatience, not suffering fools gladly. My time is valuable so I don’t want to waste it.

If you were at home alone, what would you do?
I’d read or watch TV. I’m reading Barbara Windsor’s autobiography, which she gave to me a long time ago and Blood Sugar, the debut novel by Sascha Rothchild. Right now I’m in France and I’ve got about 50 other books scattered around because I read by the pool and in bed at night. When I was a child, I read three or four books a week..
Who or what makes you feel the happiest?
I see my family varies a lot. My daughter Katy lives in London, so I try to see her three or four times a week. Unfortunately, one of my children lives abroad and the other lives in the country, so it’s difficult.
What scares you the most in life?
Take-off and landing, and I must have been on 10,000 planes. Many years ago I had a horrible experience. We were trying to land in Boston and they couldn’t. They kept trying to get down and then get up again. After that, I said ‘I’m never going to go on another plane,’ but I later went to a hypnotist. I’m now not terrified, it’s just a slight apprehension, let’s say.
What are the best and worst things about getting older?
The best thing is wisdom, and the worst thing is a fear of illness and dementia. You have to nurture yourself. You also have to eat well. I drink wine and I have a very varied diet but I don’t eat junk. You wouldn’t catch me eating a hamburger or hot dog.
Do you have any regrets?
Some of the husbands. Two of them were OK. They gave me children. But two of them were not.
What do you want most in life? Just to carry on as I’ve been carrying on. More of the same!
What’s your guilty food pleasure?
Plenty of fudge and milk chocolate – any brand will do! I have quite a few guilty food pleasures but I don’t indulge all the time. I’m pretty good.
Who is your greatest love?
Percy because of his kindness.
What is your most treasured possession?
A gold chain filled with silver charms that have been given to me by friends and associates over the years, which I always wear when I travel.
What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?
Being a judge on The Masked Singer because I didn’t know who half the people were that they were talking about.
Tell us a secret
If I tell you the secret, it won’t be a secret. There are lots of things that people don’t know. That’s why people are interested in me and that’s why, hopefully, they’ll all come and see my show!
