To kick start the Christmas Season British Vogue
editor-in-chief Edward Enninful and Diane von Furstenberg invited 250 guests including Alexa Chung, Joan Collins and Natalia Vodianova to a night of dinner and dancing to celebrate the Claridge's Christmas tree, designed by the legendary designer. Named 'The Tree of Love' and celebrating all aspects of life and love, this year's creation features 8,000 hand-painted silver leaves, glass spheres, and 150 hand-blown hearts. Perched on its branches, nestle six animals, each symbolising a different positive attribute, from an owl for
wisdom to a deer for gentleness.
Guests dined on Gruyère gougères, lobster
risotto, butternut squash wellington and plum and amaretto tart and
enjoyed cocktails representing the four seasonal, astrological elements
of Earth, Fire, Wind and Water. Entertainment was provided by magician
David Blaine, comedian Gad Elmaleh and musicians The Soul Jets and
Charlotte Lawrence.
