"a lady with great humanity"

In the words of Sweet Charity - all I can say is WOW.

This lady is a real stunner. She looks as gorgeous as she did in the Dynasty days. - and I have to say - even better than she did when she was a Rank Starlet.

In the first act she shows us pictures of herself from babyhood onward and talks about her family. She comes from a show business household so it is not surprising that she started her career at a very early age - she talks of her beloved mother and her father who made her learn shorthand and typing in the hope that she would eschew the business and marry some rich man. She also had a connection with Lottie Collins of Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay fame and as a child performed music hall songs. She gave us a rendering of Marie Lloyds most famous song 'Dilly Dally' which was rapturously received by the audience. She covers her first films and tells of her trip to Hollywood, her mentor Gene Kelly and her friendship with stars including Marilyn Monroe, and her experiences with scary divas like Joan Crawford and Bette Davies.

The second act is mostly given over to Dynasty and she is very amusing about her stormy on stage relationship with Linda Evans and her stories are illuminated with videos of episodes from the show which she obviously enjoyed enormously. Ms Collins is a born raconteur and she amuses the audience with some well known jokes but told in her own inimitable style.

At the end, her husband Percy comes on with questions provided by the audience and she answers them all with wit and charm. This is a lady with great humanity; a soupcon of self deprecation but without any false modesty.

God save our gracious Joan. Long may she reign!
