ALEXIS IS READY FOR A RANSOM!!
The streets of downtown Denver were almost deserted as the limo glided along, it's driver briefed with directions. Alexis Colby sat in the back seat, confused by her emotions, of which there were many. She felt uncertain of her future, uncertain of the outcome of this current crisis. She also felt nervous at coming face to face with the elusive Jeremy Van Dorn. It was a nervous excitement that made her pulse race, the rush of pent up anger, she had so much to say to him. Alexis felt also scared for her life, her survival, the feeling of never seeing her children again. That same feeling she felt in the potting shed the day he tried to kill her and almost succeeded. She doubted he would fail a second time! Alexis wished Frank could have accompanied her, driven the car even. But she knew he had other plans, that included saving her life!
The car turned off onto a side street, that was considerably darker than road she so far traveled. She was unaware that Frank Mulligan was observing the entire length of the small street, from the top floor of a vacant warehouse. A telescopic camera zoomed in on its subject, with enough scope to reach the outer regions of Venus! Frank had backup in the form of a couple of his FBI buddies, who kept watch from a parked car, yards away from the pickup point. Steven Carrington looked through the lens, he somehow wished he could run to his mother and rescue her from the clutches of the madman. But he knew he would have to wait and let the heavies do their best to secure her safe release.
Alexis's heart began to pound as she heard the screech of tyres, she saw the blinding lights of an arriving vehicle. She knew the time had arrived, she had to face the situation head-on. Slowly emerging from the car, clutching her purse tight to her chest, aware that her only link with Frank at this moment was the tracker device implanted in the clasp of her purse.

ALEXIS DRESSES FOR THE OCCASION! |
Alexis stood and waited, unsure of what was going to happen, next! It was then a man approached her, she suddenly felt a surge of inner strength. Alexis planned to start as she meant to go on. She would project a brave face, not allow Van Dorn or any of his hired stooges, the satisfaction of seeing her crumble.
"Mrs Colby! Give this envelope to your driver. It is the whereabouts of the boy."
Alexis could just about see his face, she took the envelope and handed to her driver.
"I certainly hope that child is unharmed!"
She suspected that the boy would be returned safe and well to Sybil, but she could not help herself.
"The boy is fine. It is time we left. Mr Van Dorn is waiting!"
Alexis was sure that he was waiting, his diabolical plan whirling around in his twisted brain. She followed the mystery man to the awaiting car...
Frank Mulligan grabbed his mobile phone, the call informing him the whereabouts of Sable's son and confirmation by his FBI mates that the tracking device had been activated. The dimly lit street was deserted now, Alexis had been driven away, her own car was now parked behind the FBI car on the main street. Frank and Steven had left the warehouse and joined the others on the main street.
The tracking equipment was housed in the car, with all four pursuers driving off in the appropriate direction, to trail Alexis.

SABLE IS RELIEVED TO HAVE HER SON BACK...
Sable Colby tore open the envelope, which had been delivered by courier...
Sable....
You have a lovely son, that Alexis would die for! Many thanks for the missing piece of my empire, that all important land! Your son is safe and well... At this moment he is waiting on the Carrington Estate...In the studio that once belonged to Alexis.. She wont be needing it anymore! So long but not farewell!!

Sable shuddered, he knew her every move and the fact she was staying at the mansion. But she was overjoyed at the knowledge that her son was safe, literally yards away from her. She ran out of the drawing room, out of the front door, with Krystle in hot pursuit. Sable ran faster than she had ever remembered, almost throwing herself in through the studio door. The little used dwelling was dark, except for a flicker of light from a solitary night light. She finally found who she was looking for, curled up on the bed, sleeping soundly.
"Darling! My precious little boy."
Sable lifted her son off the bed, he awoke, yawning, sleepy but overjoyed to see her. She held him tight, hugging him within an inch of his young life.
"Mommy! Mommy! You are back."
Dex Jr kissed his mother, hugging her as she cried tears of joy, she vowed to never let him out of her sight again. Krystle stood and watched the scene of mother and son reunited, she knew exactly how it felt. She recalled her return to Denver from Switzerland. The overwhelming relief, the joy at been back in the arms of the ones she loved more than life itself. Krystle cried along with Sable and son. |

FRANK MULLIGAN VOWS TO DEFEAT VAN DORN
For over an hour the black Mercedes drove along the quiet streets leading to the outskirts of Denver. The shabby Pontiac following as close as could be, without been noticed, carrying Frank and Steven, with George and Wilson from the Federal Bureau. The signal from the tracker was strong,so there was no immediate chance of losing the Merc.
Alexis sat pondering over her life, glancing at her watch every now and then, wondering when she would arrive at her unknown destination. Fifteen well observed minutes later, she had arrived!
The mystery man got out, approaching a set of security gates, she could hear him speak to someone. He then returned to the car, she could hear the electronic gates now open, minutes later they were on their way up a long driveway. When the car stopped again, the door opened for her to emerge.
"We have arrived Mrs Colby! You can go inside!"
With those words, he got back in to the car and drove away, leaving her all alone in the darkness. Alexis shivered, it was quite chilly in the early hours of a Denver morning.. The grounds of the large house were lit with floodlights at each corner. She looked up at the exterior of the house, it was as big as the Carrington mansion. She felt a chill run through her, an excuse to wrap her fur coat closer to her body. It was time to go in, the time had arrived! She slowly mounted the stone steps up to the front door, when she reached it, as if by magic the door swung open. Alexis took a deep breath as she entered the house, a well lit drawing room awaited her, a roaring fire wiping the chill from her bones. The interior of the room looked rather old fashioned, she could easily have wandered onto the set of an old Hammer horror film! She felt like the uninvited guest, with the mysterious host yet to appear. How she longed for Christopher Lee to come bounding down the stairs snarling, with Peter Cushing in tow, brandishing a cross of some description. Terrifying as that sounds, it was more comforting to her than having Jeremy Van Dorn invade her space. Alexis stood in front of the roaring fire, to await the monster that lurked within the house.
"Alexis! So good of you to join me!"
The voice was unmistakable, she paused for a second, then swinging around to face her demon.
"I was not aware, that I had a choice! You disgust me, you manipulative monster!"
Alexis tried hard to control herself, she had to be strong, after all there were protectors out there plotting her rescue.
"Are not all of us monsters of some sort? You did have a choice Alexis. The choice to return the boy to your enemy or give yourself in exchange. You made your choice!"
Alexis raised her eyebrows, she wanted to kill him there and then.
"You call that a choice? I call it blackmail! Emotional blackmail! You knew damn well I would put that child life above my own."
Van Dorn laughed as he approached her, taking her by the shoulders, their eyes meeting.
"Ever so maternal. I admire you for that. I do admire you Alexis! Admiration is not a compliment I dish out so freely!"
She was almost certain that he was insane, all the attempts on her life and that of her family. All the double dealing, the kidnapping of a child, yet here he was paying her compliments as if they both were on a romantic date!
"Given freely or not, you can keep your admiration, as it does not flatter me."
Jeremy gave her a wry smile, releasing her from his grasp, walking away from her reach.
"I would not expect my words to flatter you Alexis. Whatever you may think of me, I quite understand. I almost killed you in that potting shed. You do know I planned that as a test to see how indestructible you really are.You have proved to be as durable a woman as I expected!"
Alexis could have laughed but for the fact that she was dumbfounded and that he was deadly serious!
"That sounds terribly like that quaint ritual of unearthing a witch! Throw her in the river, if she sinks she's innocent, if she is a witch, she will float. The poor cow dies anyway!"
JEREMY KEEPS AN EYE ON ALEXIS!
Jeremy had no qualms as laughing at her response.
"I could never see you as a witch, Alexis. Unless your broomstick was made by Tiffany!"
Jeremy was trying to be funny, Alexis found it harder to control herself.
"Jeremy! don't you agree that it is time to cut the bullshit? I have the land deeds you demanded. What I want to know is what do you intend to do with me? Playing housemaid is out of the question and I loathe cooking! So please enlighten me as to my fate!"
Alexis had followed him over to the drinks cabinet, he had poured each of them a glass of Champagne. Handing her a glass, he stared at her, she glared at him!
"Cooking! Housemaid! Darling Alexis! We employ people to do such things. You shall become my wife. Then I can take care of you. Love you, as only I can!"
Alexis almost choked on the sip of Champagne she had consumed. The man was definitely insane, now he wanted to marry her!!
