PRESS UPDATE : LET'S TALK MAGAZINE .. DECEMBER 2015

Lets Talk Magazine, Post on 11th December, 2015

Fashion editor Corinne Tuddenham Trett talks to film and TV star Dame Joan Collins about her new Timeless Beauty range.

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty is a new international luxury beauty brand, created by one of the most glamorous icons of our time. It aims not just to inspire women, but to provide them with the tools to feel and be beautiful at any age.
Joan Collins is many things: author, actress, mother and beauty expert, but above all Joan is a woman. A strong woman who is always beautiful, chic and full of energy with a charisma that has turned her into an international star.
When young and already making waves in Hollywood, Joan worked with some of the greatest beauty experts in cinema, and it was here that her passion for beauty was born. Joan began to learn the valuable beauty secrets and tricks of the trade that normally remain behind closed doors.
Over the years, she has continued to build upon this knowledge and with her habitual attention to detail, has gathered tips and information, not just from the beauty experts, but also from her wide group of friends, many of whom are stars in their own right.
She has delved into her treasure trove of beauty knowledge to create a new line of beauty products with the aim of sharing her experience with us all and allow each woman to obtain what she dreams of: Timeless Beauty.
Joan Collins Timeless Beauty comprises three different categories: Skin Care, Cosmetics and Fragrance. In each of these categories the high quality products are presented in a striking, luxurious packaging inspired by Hollywood glamour and Joan’s love of Art Deco.
Look beyond the appealing presentation and it becomes evident that behind the gloss and sophistication of the luxurious collection, there lie the solid foundations of a serious beauty brand. The investment into meticulous scientific research for the development of every product and the ongoing use of cutting-edge, effective, multi-active ingredients are important cornerstones put in place to ensure that Joan Collins Timeless Beauty maintains its promises as it moves forward into the future.
I recently took the opportunity to interview Dame Joan for Let’s Talk, and I asked her some questions about her new range and beauty secrets.
Q: Thank you for talking to me today, Dame Joan. One of my favourite products in your range is the I AM WOMAN body lotion, a hydrating cream featuring your trademark fragrance. What is your favourite product?
A: The Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Divine Lips Lipstick. I put colour on my lips and I feel that it lifts my whole face and makes me feel more confident.
Q: Women over 50 are forever searching for a product range that suits their skin type and offers colours that flatter rather than overpower. What would you recommend as a first purchase to a new customer?
A: I’d recommend my Joan Collins Timeless Beauty First Base, it contains an anti-ageing complex hydrating skincare benefits as well as natural cover. A good base can really help disguise any tell-tale signs of ageing. I always wear foundation as I believe it helps act as another barrier between skin and harmful elements that can aggravate skin.
Q: You’ve gained a vast amount of beauty knowledge, learning at an early age from great make-up artists like Whitey Snyder. What two beauty tips would you pass on to our readers?
A: Always look after your skin. When I was 20 I was old by a friend to keep my face out of the sun. She said: “If you don’t you’ll be covered in wrinkles when you’re 45”. I have adhered to it since. Before all big events I always get a bowl of ice and cotton pads and place them on my eyes, the lie down for five minutes. It reduces puffiness and refreshes your eyes.
Q: Our readers would love to know what your daily health and beauty routine entails.
A: Beauty Routine: I am passionate about cleansing. Because I have sensitive skin I have to be very careful about the products I use, if they irritate me at all in any way then it is a disaster. I always thoroughly cleanse to make sure I get every last scrap of make-up off, followed by using a balancing toner and then apply a really good night or day cream. I also always apply foundation before going outside to protect my skin and make sure that I keep my face out of the sun, plus of course SPF.
Health Routine: I try to eat a balanced diet. I believe eating avocados and salmon, broccoli, almonds, eggs and dried apricots is very beneficial and I believe in vitamin supplements – I take Vitamin C, E and Omega oils. I also exercise three times a week.
Q: What do you keep in your handbag?
A: My Timeless Beauty Paparazzi Compact as it allows me to always be ready for any occasion. It is three products in one – a mirror, lipstick and iridescent powder so it has everything.
Q: Which fragrance do you wear?
A: I only wear “I am Woman” from my Timeless Beauty range. When I find a fragrance I love I wear it every day to embrace the scent, and “I am Woman” has the most beautiful, uplifting emotion to it which is why I have now expanded the range to include it in the new “I am Woman” home diffuser. Our “I am Woman” eau de parfum is also an intense perfume which not only lasts longer but allows you to embrace and carry the scent throughout the day without reapplying.
Q: Who inspired your love of make-up and all things glamorous?
A: I learnt everything from my mother, my aunts, Allan “Whitey” Snyder, and several great other make-up artists and stars I’ve worked with in my time.
Q: How much input did you have in the Timeless Beauty Collection?
A: I have total input with everything we do. I have been part of the collection from the beginning; I’ve chosen the colour, had input in the design and made sure that all benefits of the products are what I believe in.
Q: Your Pro Contour Blusher is a fabulous addition to the essential application toolkit. Do you have plans to extend your range of brushes?
A: Good brushes are almost as important as the product in the finish you can achieve. Timeless Beauty brushes are premier quality using only Sable and Finest Goat hair in the bristle. The brush range is very specific and covers the essentials – powder, blusher, lip, eyeshadow and concealer. Having too many brushes can be confusing so at present we will keep the range tight and clear.
Q: Is there anything in the pipeline for 2016 – beauty-wise?
A: We have some fantastic new lipstick and lip gloss shades launching in the spring. The First Base foundation range is being extended to include Extra Fair shades in both Warm and Cool. Lots more to follow, watch this space!
Q: And finally, Joan, how will you be spending your Christmas this year?
A: I will be in London celebrating a traditional English Christmas. We will have a fir tree decorated with handmade decorations, many of them made by me. We will be with my children, grandchildren and other family members to enjoy a delicious Christmas Day lunch, Christmas Eve party and further Boxing Day celebrations. There will, of course, be lots of presents!
