Overseas showbiz royalty takes command of Las Vegas this weekend as “Star Trek” meets Earth’s ordinary citizens. Beam me up, Scotty, and let’s roar at warp speed with crown and scepter in hand!
Newly knighted Dame Joan Collins arrived Thursday from London for a jam-packed 96-hour round trip for the weekend’s “Star Trek” convention at the Rio. The still-gorgeous former “Dynasty” star has dinner reservations at Lakeside andSinatra at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore, respectively.
But her dance card is full Saturday with a solo and joint Q+A with William Shatner. Joan tells me that she’s looking forward to judging the “Star Trek” costume contest. She hopes to be back in town this fall for another weekend of her one-woman show recently at South Point.
Joan starred in the “Star Trek” episode titled “The City on the Edge of Forever,” playing Edith Keeler, owner of a New York City mission where Kirk and Spock, portrayed by the late Leonard Nimoy, wind up in a time warp. Her role was shot in three days in February 1967.
